Product FAQs

How do I care for my candle?
  • Burn your candle for 2-4 hours on the first burn, or until the wax has melted to the edge of the vessel. This will ensure an even melt pool and avoids tunnelling - where unmelted wax is left at the edges. If a full melt pool isn't achieved after the first 4-hour burn, it will likely catch up on subsequent burns.
  • Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
  • Trim your wick before each lighting of your candle. 5mm is ideal. This avoids sooting and ensures that the flame won't get too big.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended, near draughts or anything that could catch alight.
  • Keep well away from babies, children and animals
  • Do not pick up the candle vessel whilst it is hot

How should I store my candle?

  • Candles contain wax and fragrance oil, both of which are very sensitive to changes in temperature. Try to store your candles at room temperature, usually 18-20 degrees. They should be fine at anything from 10-25 degrees, but it's best not to put them in the fridge or anywhere too hot.
Why does the surface of my candle look imperfect after burning?

  • Plant wax is prone to cracks, frosting and lumps and bumps after cooling. This will not impact the performance of the candle or its scent in any way and is perfectly normal.
Can I clean and reuse my candle glass?

  • Absolutely! They make great vessels to store make-up brushes, cotton buds and crayons. To clean your glass, do the following:
  • Stand your glass in a small bowl of boiling water. Make sure the water doesn't go inside the glass.
  • After a couple of minutes, the wax will have melted. Use kitchen paper to wipe out the inside of the glass. The wax should wipe away easily and the wick holder should come out.
  • Once the glass is wax free, soak the label in the water for a few minutes, then use a scrubby sponge or brush to gently remove
  • Finish with a wash in hot soapy water to get your glass sparkling again!
  • Never pour melted wax down your sink as this could cause blockages.

Are your candles safe?

  • Our products adhere to the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. All products have been tested and assessed for safety before being released for sale.
  • The base of each candle contains a CLP label, which depicts hazards and warnings and lists allergens contained in the specific fragrance oil used. This information is also on our wax melts. More information is available in our Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Please contact us for copies of our SDS.
  • Whimsy & Wist are compliant with all EU regulations.
